No time!

image3 (1)AHHHH pdays are always crazy!!! I always thought I would have all the time in the world on pdays, I was wrong!!! Haha!!! But hello everyone!!! This email is going to be kind of short and all over the place… ?

First off, we went to a festival to watch a few less actives dance. When we got there, one of them grabbed us and said come dance with us!! So we danced in the festival and were on tv!!!! Haha!!! It was a traditional Japanese dance?? Haha mostly just walking and clapping and sometimes running in a circle.

image2 (1)We also met a new investigator! Her name is Yuka and she is so cute!!!! She’s half Filipino and half Japanese! She loves English so we are going to start doing 30/30’s with her. She also LOVES chocolate! She loves it as much as me so she told me we are chocolate friends. Haha some of the only words she knows in English.

image4We also had ROOT BEER this week!! It was SOOO good. They don’t have root beer here and a member got it from a store that sells American stuff. Yummmmmm.

One of the members in our ward moved to Okinawa…. ๐Ÿ™ that was really sad because our branch is so small but we are all really excited for him!!

Today, we helped an investigator decorate her new house that she just moved into and went shopping with her! It was so much fun but that’s why I don’t really have much time to email haha!

I love and miss you all!!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope you all have a great week!!!!!

Love,

Jones Shimai

Transfer 3… What?!?

ใฟใ‚“ใชใ•ใ‚“ใ“ใ‚“ใซใกใ‚๏ผ

Hey everyone!!!!

I’m officially transfer 3 now!! AHHH!!! Haha!

image3_3Sooo… I successfully went on another Kokan with a Japanese speaking sister! Who hoo!! So hopefully that means my Japanese is getting better right? Haha! But while I was on the Kokan we went and ate sushi for lunch (ya I still don’t love it haha) and while we were talking a man turns to me and asks where I’m from in English! I was like America!! Then he started talking to me in English, telling me all kinds of random things haha. Then his number got called so he went and sat down, our number got called next and we ended up sitting right next to him. So he talked to me some more. He told me that he’s been to America once and that he goes to an English class once a week in Nagoya so we told him about our English class that we teach. Then he just sort of talked to me on and off telling me random things. He told me it was his birthday so I said happy birthday and that I hoped he had a good day! Then right before he left he turned to me and said thank you for telling me happy birthday, I was going to spend my birthday alone but I was so grateful to speak English with you and that you told me to have a good day, then he just turned and walked away. I don’t know if I will see him again anytime soon but I just learned from that experience that you can never be too nice to someone.

Mukaiyama Kyodai who plays the Christian blues

The people here in Japan are so extremely nice!!! We got lost trying to find someone’s house so we asked this older lady if she knew the address and she just came out of her house and started walking around with us to find it and when she couldn’t find it she knocked on someone else’s house and they helped us find it! Like what!! Haha!!

Transfers happened this week! Elder Orton wen to Gokiso and Elder John came here! He’s really nice but in Japanese you pronounce his name like jones minus the s so everyone keeps getting confused about why he has the same name as me… Hahah…!

One of the members in our ward plays Christian blues at a little restaurant and we got permission to go watch him haha! So we went to that on Saturday night. I’m not a huge fan of his type of music but he did awesome! He was so happy we all came. He said that not that many people have come to watch just him before so that was really good ๐Ÿ™‚

This was the smallest, hottest car I have ever been in my whole entire life haha
This was the smallest, hottest car I have ever been in my whole entire life haha

This week I watched a video called “good things to come” and “Sunday will come”. They are both Mormon messages and they are both about trials. I know trials are hard but I know that God loves us all and he gives us trials to make us stronger. If you have time this week, then I would encourage you to watch those videos ๐Ÿ™‚

I love you all!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Love, Jones Shimai

Asako San got Baptized :)

image5Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This week was so good!!! We had so many things happen!

First of all…… We got chased by a cat. Haha that part wasn’t so fun but it was an adventure. We had visited this referral a few days ago but she hadn’t answered so we tried again on Friday night but she still didn’t answer then all of the sudden this cat jumped on the porch and started like meow growling at us and chasing us. So then we went to visit someone else and came back later but when we came back the cat was still there and he chased us again! It doesn’t sound very scary and makes us sound like big babies but it was a really scary cat!!!!

image4(4)We also made a cheesecake for one of our members daughters. It wasn’t the best cheesecake ever but it’s the thought that counts right? Haha!!!

Then on Saturday we had a Philippino party!!! It was so much fun! So many people came. There were about 5 Philippinos who came and did a game with all of us and brought Philippino food!

image1(4)Saturday night we got transfer calls….. Stone shimai and I are staying companions for one more transfer!! Whoo hoo!! And now I’m on transfer 3 so I’m not a “bean chan” anymore!! Elder Orton, one of the elders in our district, is transferring and that’s kind of sad but we are excited for the new elder to come and for elder Orton to have a new adventure. We are all trying our best to be happy about it. Haha but it’ll all be good! Change is kind of hard but it always ends up being fun ๐Ÿ™‚

We got a new branch president!!! Sugiura Kyodai is becoming the new branch president and he is AWESOMIE!!!! WE ARE SO EXCITED!

image1On Sunday.. We had a BAPTISM!!! Asako San got baptized! So many people came! And she’s Peruvian so a man that moved came back to baptize her in Spanish and then one of the Spanish elders in another area came to confirm her. It was awesome!! We (the missionaries) sang I am a child of God in Spanish. I was really nervous about how it would turn out but it actually turned out really good and the spirit was really strong ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m so grateful for all of you!!! I love you all!!!

Love, Jones Shimai

JASON!

image2(3)Hiiiii everyone!!

I don’t have tons of time this week. We had our district activity today and that took up most of our pday!

This week we walked so much! Haha stone shimais bike broke so we ended up walking a lot but it was still great! Earlier this week we met an actress on the train! She lives in Tokyo and she says she plays in lots of famous musicals! It was so cool!

image3Then on Friday we had FHE but nobody showed up at first. It was kind of awkward and we were considering just having our meeting with our ward mission leader and going home but then the branch presidents wife came and another couple. So we had a little FHE with them. After that we had a meeting with our ward mission leader over the phone and while one of the elders was talking to him, a man walks into the church. It was about 9 at night so it was a little weird at first but then the man asks if this is the Mormon church? We say it is and he says that he’s been inactive for about 10 years but he wants to start coming back. He says he’s from the Philippines and that his whole family back home is active. He told us about his wife and two kids, they’re 8 and 8 months old. We talked to him for a little while and he just told us how he always drives past the church but never sees bikes outside but this time he saw bikes so he wanted to come in and talk to us! It was so awesome!! He asked us when church is and said he wants to start bringing his family! It was just crazy and we are going to have a Philipino party on Friday! It was such a huge miracle. We have been working so hard all week and it just sort of felt like it was dragging and then this huge miracle happened ๐Ÿ™‚ God’s timing is so interesting, sometimes we just need to be patient. But in the end it always works out ๐Ÿ™‚

image1(2)This Saturday is transfer calls! Ahhh!! We are nervous! Cross your fingers we stay companions in Suwa for one more transfer ๐Ÿ˜‰ haha!

Next Sunday our investigator, Asako San, is getting baptized! She passed her baptism interview yesterday ๐Ÿ™‚

So those are they big things this week. I love you all and thank you so much!!! Sorry the email is kind of short and all over the place!!!

Ai Shite Imasu!

Love,

Jones Shimai
