Training and becoming a trainer!

Hi Everyone!!!

I hope you all had a great week!! Our week was CRAZY! So originally, it was supposed to be Tsujimoto Shimai and I here in Fukui but then Tuesday night at 10:15 the AP (Assistant to the President) missionaries called us and said there was going to be a change of plans and that we are actually training so we need to be at the honbu (mission office) tomorrow morning! We looked up train times super fast then jumped in bed.

The next morning we woke up early and headed to Nagoya to meet the new missionary! It was kind of nerve wracking haha but she is here now! Her name is Kim Shimai and she is from Korea!! Her Japanese is amazing! She lived in Japan before her mission so she knows a lot about the culture as well!

I love being with companions that speak only Japanese! I thought I was going to have a hard time but it’s really awesome and I’m learning so much! I also love teaching them things like “cross your fingers” haha! They think it’s so funny!

Sunday night we had a breakfast burrito party with Mizumura Shimai’s family, Mayu and Rachel! It was supposed to be a tacos party but we were so busy that we totally forgot to buy more hamburger meat. We only had a little bit so we changed it to a breakfast burrito party with eggs, a little meat and potatoes haha! It was a lot of fun! We made food, ate, talked then shared a message at the end. We had fake money and asked everyone if they wanted it, of course they said yes. Then we crumpled it and asked if they still wanted it, once again yes. We asked why and they said because it’s still money and the worth is the same even though it’s a little crumpled. Then we explained the money is like us. Sometimes we have things in life that are hard and feel like we are crumpled but to Heavenly Father, our worth is always the same. We are always children of God and he always loves us! Those times when we feel crumpled and broken we can always be fixed because we have a Savior who loves us and performed the atonement for us. I am so grateful for the Savior and the mercy that he shows us.

This transfer, our zone is reading the Book of Mormon from cover to cover! A transfer is 6 weeks so we are reading about 14 pages a day! I LOVE IT! It’s really a testimony builder. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be a missionary.

I’m so grateful for this gospel and I know that it is true. I know that we have a Heavenly Father who loves us. We are all his children. I know that we have a Savior who has experienced everything that we have because he LOVES us.

I love you all and I’m thankful for the support! I hope you all have a great week!!

Last week I went to Tojimbo cliffs with Rachel! Since my companion was going back to America I needed to spend the day with a member until I could be with the other missionaries haha! It was so fun!

Went to Tojimbo cliffs then a place called Hamburger Land!! It was soo good!! American shakes, hamburgers and a sign that teaches you how to eat a hamburger haha

I hope you all had the best week ever! I love you all and am so grateful for all of you!!!

Gratitude is good

I hope you all had a great week! Today we are going hiking for our district activity so I don’t have much time but I want to talk about Friday because it was a good day haha!

On Friday we had to wake up at 5:30 so we could catch our train to get to ZTM on time. I was exhausted but we made it to ZTM and had an awesome training. Then we had another long train ride home. We got back at 6:40 and met Yamamoto Shimai at the train station. It had already been a long day and I was so tired. We had learned so many awesome things about Christlike attributes at ZTM but I had already forgotten them and was thinking about myself. All I could think about was how tired I was, how I didn’t feel good, how I was hungry, etc. It made the first little while with Yamamoto Shimai not very fun. I just kept thinking about me, me, me. Finally about half an hour into visiting people with Yamamoto Shimai, half an hour too late, I realized how silly I was being. I started to think about the things we had heard at ZTM and focusing on other people. I realized that I could decide to change my attitude. I could decide right then to be happy and focus on others. I realized that I could rely on Christ and lean on him for the strength I needed to finish the last few hours of our long day. So I said a prayer in my heart and changed my thinking. We saw so many miracles that night. We visited 4 people and all of them were home. We were able to meet Chihiro Shimai, a less active. She is always super busy so it was so awesome that we were able to meet her. We were also able to set an apt. to go out to dinner with her tomorrow night which is another huge thing!!! She’s so awesome and we are so excited! I am so grateful for Heavenly Father’s tender mercies and the fact that he loves us.

I know this email is kind of short and all over the place but I really am grateful for this gospel. I am really grateful for Heavenly Father and his love. I’m grateful for our Savior and the sacrifice he made for all of us because he loves us.

As a zone, we are sending in gratitude texts every night. Every person in the zone texts the zone leaders one thing they are grateful for, then the zone leaders copy and paste all of the replies into one text and send it out to everyone. It’s been really cool to see all the things that everyone is thankful for. Pudding, miracles, Our Heavenly Father, Our Savior and everything in between. There’s so many things in this world to be thankful for and I have really loved sending and receiving these gratitude “boosts” every night!

I am really so grateful for all of you and all of the love and support. I am also very grateful for our Savior and the fact that he is always there for us. A scripture that I have really loved recently is 2 Nephi 4: 34-35. When you get a moment you should look at it 🙂 I know that Jesus Christ really does love us and is always helping us.
