Trust the Lord

Hey!!!!! I hope everyone had a great week!

The time is going toooo fast!!!!! We had a great week full of lots of surprises and miracles!

First, WE WERE FINALLY ABLE TO MEET WITH SEIKA! She is the really awesome investigator we met like a month ago. She’s the one that ran after us in heels. We had set a next appointment but then she got sick so we haven’t been able to meet but on Monday night we met her!!!! We went out to dinner and she wanted to know why we didn’t drink alcohol. We ended up teaching the Word of Wisdom to her and she thought it was really awesome. She told us that she had done some research to see what the Mormon church was. She hadn’t found too much which is probably a good thing. Haha. We gave her a Mormon.org card and asked her to read he Plan of Salvation Pamphlet. She said she will and that she’s excited to learn more! We have another appointment with her tomorrow!! So excited!

We also did a mini music concert for one of the member’s moms. She’s not a member but loves music so we sang some songs for her and her friend. They loved it because we sang a lot of old Japanese songs. Then they invited us to radio taiso the next day. Radio taiso is early morning exercises for old people and anyone else that wants to join. They really wanted us and the Elders to come so we told them we would. The next morning, the 4 of us biked over to the park at 6 in the morning. Radio taiso started at 6:30 and the park was kind of far away. Anyway, we got to the park and did radio taiso for 10 minutes, it only goes for 10 mins, then we got swarmed by the old people. Hahahahaha. We felt like celebrities. They were asking us all kinds of questions, then Kobayashi san and Ooba san (the two we did a concert for yesterday) told everyone that we sing Japanese songs. The next thing we knew everyone was asking us to sing. We didn’t really have the Japanese songs memorized so we told them we would sing a hymn. We ended up singing Did you think to pray at 6:45 in the morning to a lot of grandmas and grandpas. Hahaha it was a lot of fun though and they were soo sweet. Definitely one of the highlights of my week.

A surprise that happened this week was that our investigator who had a baptismal date ended up moving to Tokyo because she got a modeling job. Haha. It was a big surprise but we are going to refer her to the Tokyo missionaries!

Yesterday was Sister Armour’s birthday and we got lots of cakes and presents! This last week was also her Senpai week, all new missionaries have one week where they are the senior companion, and she did great!!!! Her Japanese has been improving so much!!!! It was amazing to see her use the phone, talk to people and all the other senior companion stuff! As a new missionary all that stuff is really scary but my faith really grew seeing how, even though she was nervous, she still pushed through and did it! She’s great!!

On Saturday we had a kids english class and Rio chan, the Ishii’s daughter, came. She has Down syndrome and she’s adorable!!!! After the class, she kept coming up and asking “What’s your name?” We would tell her and then she would have us sing the name song. Then she would ask us to sing head, shoulders, knees and toes. This happened for about 20 mins. Haha!! I LOVE HER!! She also sat by us in sacrament meeting and wanted us to look at every one of her drawings! She’s the cutest, sweetest little girl ever!

I love being a missionary! I’m still in shock that this is my last week. I’m trying not to think about it because I don’t want to leave these people. I’m so grateful for all of the people that I’ve met and all the experiences that I’ve had. I know that this church is true and I know that God has a plan for each and every one of us. I’m going to trust Him this next week and work my hardest!

I love you all!! Thank you!!! Have a great week!

Hello!!!!

We had a great week! There was a lot of interesting things, hard things and great things!! We don’t have much time again so I will keep this short. We actually had to drop quite a few investigators this week but we are really going to work on finding more this coming week. The investigators we have are doing great!

This week I was reading a General conference talk during one of my personal studies. It was from the October 2013 General Conference. It’s called, “We Never Walk Alone” by President Thomas S. Monson. When you have some downtime this week, please read it (or listen, https://www.lds.org/ensign/2013/11/general-relief-society-meeting/we-never-walk-alone.p1?lang=eng) . It’s such a good talk and I really know that we never walk alone. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are always with us. They love us more than we can ever comprehend. I love this gospel and I love being a missionary.

I hope everyone has a great week! Love you!

Hello Everyone!

I hope everyone had a great week!! I just want to start by saying thank you for all the support! I’m grateful for each and every one of you! I love being a missionary!!!

This week was great! Sorry, this email is going to be crazy. Last week we went to a festival with a member and her mother who is not a member. It was lots of fun! We got free raffle tickets because we are American. We won lots of yogurt, tissues and dish soap. We aren’t complaining haha! We needed more dish soap.

Quesadilla Party!
Quesadilla Party!

That night we had a lesson with Megumi! She is awesome!!! We ate quesadillas, she loves tortillas, then gave her a church tour. She thought the church was really cool. We showed her the baptismal font and ended up asking her to get baptized. She said she wants to but wouldn’t pick a date because she is so busy with nursing school! She said that she does want to keep learning and will pray about a date for baptism. She is amazing!! Please pray for her!

We met with a cute girl named Rika that we had met on the street a week ago. We went out for sushi and talked about what missionaries do. We taught her about God and prayer. She really liked the idea of prayer and told us that she was going to pray this week!

We met with Lina, Eliza and Yamada San! Lina and Eliza are two Brazilians that we met through Japanese class, Yamada San is the teacher for Japanese class. We all went to Lina’s house and she made us amazing Brazilian food. We ate pastel, coxinha, and cocada! I have no idea if I’m spelling those right, there are probably accents but it was sooo good!!!!!! We ended up talking about the Word of Wisdom because they were confused that we didn’t drink tea or coffee. Haha. At the end we showed them the “Because of Him” video and gave them each a marked up Book of Mormon! They said they will read the Book of Mormon! Lina was super excited that we gave her a Book of Mormon in Portuguese! We also testified in the little Portuguese that we know. The Spirit was very strong. We are excited for them!

Mini Concert
Mini Concert

Yesterday we went to the Sugiura family’s house and performed music for them! They are members but don’t come to church very often. They are super nice! They love music so we put together a mini concert for them! It was a lot of fun! That night we also went to a festival with one of our investigators, Koyuki San. At the festival they danced in a circle around drums. It was awesome! We were also able to dance a little bit. It was a lot of fun!

We called some people from our phone to see if I they want to meet with missionaries again. A lady named Maria answered and started telling us her life story. She wants to meet again but next Sunday because she had plans at the time we called her. Everyone always thinks we want to meet RIGHT at the moment we call them. Haha. She went on to tell us that she met the missionaries a year ago and that a lot of people in her family are Mormon. Then she asked us if we wanted to go to the Philippines, because if we do she will call her family so we have a place to stay. Haha. Then she asked if we wanted to go to California, because if so then she will call her cousin so we can have a place to stay haha! She is hilarious! We have an appointment for next Sunday and she is coming to church! Super excited!

We also had a zone conference all about faith. At one point, we talked about the Savior and the Atonement. As soon as we started talking about the Atonement, the Spirit in the room changed. It became more reverent. I am so grateful for the Savior and the sacrifice that he made for us, the Atonement.

“I stand all amazed at the love Jesus offers me,
Confused at the grace that so fully he proffers me.
I tremble to know that for me he was crucified,
That for me, a sinner, he suffered, he bled and died.
Oh, it is wonderful that he should care for me
Enough to die for me!
Oh, it is wonderful, wonderful to me!”

I know that Jesus Christ loves us always. I know that He performed the Atonement personally for each and every one of us. I’m so grateful for the Savior.

I love Japan and I love being a missionary! I love these people. They will always have a piece of my heart. I hope that everyone has a great week! Please remember that you are loved! You are important and you are needed! 🙂 Talk to you next week!
