Ohio!!

Ohio!!

I survived another whole week!!! I can’t believe it’s already been two weeks….. The people here keep telling me the days feel like weeks and the weeks feel like days, I understand what they mean now haha.

We are still just studying tons, everyday haha! But I’m learning the language! We finished teaching our first investigator and now we have two more. I’m finally starting to be able to say sentences to them instead of playing charades and looking like a weirdo.

Oh some other big news is that I’m in a trio now! They added a third girl to our district and she’s with me and Wihongi Shimai! Her name is Lofthouse Shimai and she’s from Alaska. She’s half Japanese and is fluent but doesn’t know gospel terms. She was supposed to only stay 12 days with the fast trackers but since she didn’t know gospel terms she’s staying 9 weeks with the rest of us. At first it was weird to get used to just because all of the sudden we had to worry about 3 people in the morning and stuff like that. But we are adjusting and she’s sweet. It is a lot harder to get to class on time in the morning when there’s 3 girls getting ready though…. haha!

We got our iPads on Friday!!! Yay!!!! Technology haha!
Our senpai (the ones who have been here longer than us) are leaving on Monday though and then we will be senpai for the new ones that come in. That’s a really scary thought…. Haha we don’t feel like we are ready to be senpai. But it’ll be ok! haha!
We had a really great devotional last night about moving forward. They talked to us about how we are supposed to learn from our past but not dwell on it. We need to be waking up everyday, putting a smile on our face and moving forward. Don’t worry about things, just trust it’s going to be ok and keep going πŸ™‚

Minasan Konichiwa!!!

Minasan Konichiwa! (that means hello everyone haha)

Wow………… What have I gotten myself into?!? Haha!!! Just kidding. But really, it’s crazy busy!! The first day I got here they had me doing stuff from the very start to the very end. It was just one thing after another. And in my class they only spoke Japanese….. I was so lost!!! But I’m finally catching on! Haha! I can pray in Japanese now, and testify (kind of), and I know the Hiragana. I understand certain words and phrases but it’s a really hard language!
Thursday was our first normal day, they study and go to classes A LOT…… The first few days I didn’t think I could study anymore or my brain would explode! haha! I like my companion a lot, her name is Wihongi Shimai (shimai means sister in Japanese) She’s from Australia and she’s awesome! The other girls in my room are super nice too and my district is awesome! We have 4 girls and 4 boys in our district. I had a SUPER hard time going to bed at 10:30 and waking up at 6:30 for the first little while!!! hahaha!!!!! I am not a morning person. Hopefully that changes soon…. haha!
But I liked Friday a lot, we had a little more time to get ready in the morning because we didn’t need to be to class til 9:20!! Whoo hoo! And we are already teaching an investigator…. in Japanese…. I’m pretty sure she thinks I’m crazy haha because I only know some words so I’ll say the words I know and basically play charades. It’s cool though! haha! My companion took 5 years of Japanese before she got here so she’s pretty good at it which is good because then she helps me study! haha I really need it.
I liked Sundays because we got to leave the MTC campus and walk up to the temple! I got fresh air! I saw grass! I could see things other than buildings! haha!!! We took pictures up there! I’ll attach some pictures but we can only do two at a time in an email so there might be a few emails haha.

Monday kind of dragged just because it was the same stuff as all the other days and we were all super excited for p-day… haha! But Tuesday was good because we only had one class then a devotional later on. It was good, Sister Wixom (the general primary president) spoke and it was a nice talk. She talked about missionaries and about the things we would struggle with and just about loving everyone.
And now it’s p-day and I get to email! haha!!! They feed us a lot!!! I love it! haha!! All the girls in my room keep talking about how they can’t eat anymore and they’re going to get fat but I eat anything and everything… haha probably not a good thing but I mean we are going to be biking our whole mission so I think I’ll be alright haha!! Plus we do have gym time everyday so I just workout then. haha!!
Anyway, I don’t know what else to write about! I’m sure they’ll get more detailed throughout my mission haha! Thank you for all the love and support!! I love you all! Ai shitte masu means I love you in Japanese!! πŸ™‚
I’ll talk to you in a week,
Jones Shimai
P.S. I like getting dear elder letters soooo if any of you wanted to write some dear elder letters or like send food I’d totally be ok with that πŸ˜‰ haha!

I’m Alive!

Hello!!!!!!

I survived my first day at the MTC! All I have to say is wow. You guys were right, it’s crazy busy. I do one thing then I think I’ll get a break and all of the sudden they’re having me do something else! Haha!
My first day in language class was insane. They ONLY spoke Japanese. I was so lost and we are having a test on Monday….what…. haha! Wish me luck. Also, my p-day is going to be Wednesday not Monday. So I’ll be able to email again on Wednesday!
My companion is Sister Wihongi and she’s from Australia so that’s actually really cool! She has a sweet accent. haha! I don’t have a lot of time so I’ll write a more detailed email next time. I love you guys!
